What to expect

This tour is perfect for families traveling with children. I will be able to tell you about Porto excitingly without loading your children with facts and dates, and I will also not bypass the story of the creation of the first Harry Potter book.

Our tour will start with an acquaintance with Porto at the Lion Fountain, also known by Harry Potter fans as the Gryffindor Fountain. Porto was a fantastic source of inspiration for J.K. Rowling, and you'll find out why.

On the way to Carlos Alberto Square, we will come across two churches, and what lies between these architectural gems is a bit surprising. We will see one of the narrowest houses in the world and get acquainted with its remarkable history. Even if you don't like museums, the Material Bank will not leave you indifferent, as it is a unique repository of tiles collected from all over the city. I will tell you all about azulejos and why they adorn Porto.

The Clerigos Tower and everything that surrounds this place are beautiful. Let's look at the city walls and the garden with olive trees and try to identify the building of the former prison. And let's not miss the Lello Brothers' magical bookstore, which served as an inspiration for J.K. Rowling.

And this is just a tiny part of what you will see during our walk.

Liberty Square with the most beautiful McDonald's in the world, Sao Bento Station, where we will talk about the Age of Discovery, Vasco de Gama and Magellan, the Cathedral, and the labyrinth of medieval streets leading to Ribeira - the hallmark of the city.

After crossing the bridge, you will find yourself in Vila Nova de Gaia, the birthplace of port wine, the most famous fortified wine in the world. Only port wine produced in this city has the right to be called that. You will see the cellars where port wine is stored and bottled and the old boats on which merchants transported it, and you will also learn about the features and varieties of this aristocratic drink.
